I got a preliminary video site and it shows animation tests for this second season. I'm yet to give this season a name but here is the link Animation Test .
After some practice drawing, studying some Madlax and Noir characters, I've made character sketches on the characters for the second season Character sketches .The characters themselves look a lot closer to Noir and Madlax characters this time round, however I hope this series will feel like an inspired derivative rather than a clone.
After pondering this through, I've came to the conclusion for Season 2 I will do this in an animation or visual novel format. As discussed earlier I feel like an animator at heart rather than a comic person. Really I watch animation, I hardly read comics and it suits my style to be audiovisual. But another reason and I don't like to say this is I get the impression webcomics are better suited to shorter attention spans, gags and the like. There are some impressive serious thoughtful long story webcomics out there but I had to say the way some third rate critics responded to Pretty Risque Third rate critics I get that negative impression. For Season 2 I'll be attempting something on the more serious side, hopefully more subtle and I hope the new format will allow me to express myself better.
As promised I turned part of the webcomic into an animation. The link is Pretty Risque Pilot On the visual side, even a minor colour adjustment with some crude shading seems to have given this an improvement. My conclusion is I'm a better animator than comic artist/cartoonist. My voice acting is superior to my speech bubbles, transitions make more sense in animation than comic for my style. I'm happy to hear other opinions though.
After pondering whether I should do the second season or not, I've decided I will. There has been discouragement from negative comments and some encouragement from others but in the end I want to express myself and improve. It might be awhile, I'm going to take a considerable detour. Firstly I'm going to test my shading techniques by turning at least part of the comic as an animation. If the animation test is successful, I'll switch the second season to animation from the webcomic format.
This really is the end for awhile now. The closing credits are here, thank you to everyone who read. I have a couple of thousand words on my creator's notes if anyone is interested. The link is Pretty Risque Creator's Notes
I've finished, what an absorbing ride it has been for me to create this comic.Thank you to everyone who read especially those who read all the way. Please do my survey if you finished my comic, its only ten questions and only six are compulsory. The link is Pretty Risque Survey It will help me evaluate my comic. Thanks :)
Not long to go now. Unless my computer dies on me, I should finish on the 28th June with season credits and my creator's notes on July 12. Please do my survey if you finished my comic, its only ten questions and only six are compulsory. It will help me evaluate my comic. Thanks :)
It's up to the last five comics. I'm still coming to terms with my long project with Season 1 will soon end. The production should be on schedule with the final comic on the 28th June. There will be a season credits page two weeks and a short survey after this date.
We\'re up to the tenth comic so far :). Thank you to anyone who's been reading the comic so far. I'll be asking for donations now, no I don't want donations of money or material possessions (although you are most welcome to give one :D) but a donation of your time to give me an opinion about my webcomic. Much appreciated.
I have reduced the size of the pic on the webpage to 80 percent, so that should reduce load times. Feel free to download the full size pics using the right click Save Image As.
Yes, the day has finally come! Here is the first comic and these will continue to be added weekly for 26 weeks. I hope you enjoy my webcomic in these coming months.
Ok, I've made up my mind. The release date for Pretty Risque will be January 4 2009 and will be updated weekly. Thank you for waiting.
I'm in the thick of this series now, Im nearly half way and put a preview strip for everyone to see. I can release in October but I won't because I will be on holiday sometime in Novermber/December so it might be difficult for the strip to be updated weekly. Early next year or sometime around Christmas is looking most likely. Keep you all posted.
Phew, its been over three months since I started on Pretty Risque . I'm not sure if I will make my October deadline but Im on schedule so far :).
The first season will have 26 strips with 4 panels each.
My current production schedule is to produce half a strip a week.
The series takes inspiration from Noir and Madlax.
This is the first strip I ever made.
Characters are kind of chibified.
I'm happy to preview the series in the coming months if anyone is interested.
